This week on the sixth Sunday of Easter, Formed helps us to prepare for next week's "The Ascension of the Lord" with two offerings on Tim Gray's Augustine Institute Show. One is "Living Easter as a Season" with guest Dr. Ben Akers and the other is "Easter and the Resurrection" with guest Fr. Brian Larkin. Take a half hour and prepare for the Ascension with one or more of these discussions. Our Health and Wellness ministry along with Oakland Center on Aging and McAuley Senior Center will be offering a free Family Caregiver workshops on April 29 from 10:00 am - 2:00 pm with lunch provided. These workshops will focus on empowering those who care for people with dementia and other health issues. Information will include an overview of dementia and Alzheimer's disease and provide caregiving tips in order to maintain dignity, respect and quality of life for those living with these afflictions. St. Faustina lamented not always having a spiritual director: "Oh, if only I had had a spiritual director from the beginning, then I would not have wasted so many of God's graces." She identified some of the benefits of having a spiritual director: "Oh, how great a grace it is to have a spiritual director! One makes more rapid progress in virtue, sees the will of God more clearly, fulfills it more faithfully and follows a road that is sure and free of dangers. The director knows how to avoid the rocks against which the soul could be shattered. The Lord gave me this grace rather late, to be sure, but I rejoice in it greatly."

A spiritual director can help God to be more tangibly present. Sometimes we simply cannot put it all together and it takes another person to listen to our story and also listen to the Holy Spirit to spot gaps and help us to connect the dots. Our parish has two certified spiritual directors who see male and female directees ranging in age from 30-80+. Anytime is the right time to seek spiritual direction. As we get closer to this charity golf event on June 15 we are hoping for more parishioners to be sponsors/donors. We currently provide financial tuition assistance to 34 children that would be unable to attend St. John's School (Hot Springs) without our help. With the substantial cost increases in tournament expenses, we truly need more sponsor/donor help. What an honor to carry the wine, hosts, and offerings at Mass for consecration.
