Now that May has arrived, this is a reminder that the entry deadline for the 16th annual Knights of Columbus Charity Golf Tournament is coming up on June 1. As in the past, the month before the tourney is hectic with LOTS of entries coming in so please DO NOT WAIT as we have had numerous teams that waited too long and were unable to play. This is one of our largest fund raisers and it seems to be growing annually. Also, we can always use more parishioners to be sponsor/donors for this event. The students at St. John's School in Hot Springs benefit greatly from the money raised. Forms available at hsvsacredheart.com, hsvkofc.com or contact Scott Krantz 512 626-7711 or This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.
The Knights of Columbus are pleased to announce the 2024 SHJ Parish Taste of Faith dinner is scheduled for the evening of Friday, August 9. This week on the sixth Sunday of Easter, Formed helps us to prepare for next week's "The Ascension of the Lord" with two offerings on Tim Gray's Augustine Institute Show. One is "Living Easter as a Season" with guest Dr. Ben Akers and the other is "Easter and the Resurrection" with guest Fr. Brian Larkin. Take a half hour and prepare for the Ascension with one or more of these discussions. Go to www.FORMED.org to register as a SHJ parishioner for a free subscription to access all offered for your family.
NER:

Visit the interactive map at ww.eucharisticpilgrimage.org to see the stops (indicated by a dot) along each route where you can begin or end a portion of the route. Your travels may enable you to join other pilgrims for this national encounter.

PEA:

Check out the PEA notebook in the Narthex to see what fellow parishioners say about their time in the chapel. Evening adorer Jim Bergstrom says, "...when I am in His presence at adoration, I have His complete attention. He listens to me...and is glad that I am in His presence. ...I leave with a calm within my heart that is tremendously refreshing. He will do the same for you if you are willing to give Him the gift of your time."

We continue to look for one or a group to share/alternate the hours of 1 - 3 am on Sundays and receive the blessings that result.

Thinking of "dipping your toe" into adoration? Subs are a necessity for summer. Please contact Kathy Clark 203 816-7737 to enroll.

St. Faustina lamented not always having a spiritual director: "Oh, if only I had had a spiritual director from the beginning, then I would not have wasted so many of God's graces." She identified some of the benefits of having a spiritual director: "Oh, how great a grace it is to have a spiritual director! One makes more rapid progress in virtue, sees the will of God more clearly, fulfills it more faithfully and follows a road that is sure and free of dangers. The director knows how to avoid the rocks against which the soul could be shattered. The Lord gave me this grace rather late, to be sure, but I rejoice in it greatly."

A spiritual director can help God to be more tangibly present. Sometimes we simply cannot put it all together and it takes another person to listen to our story and also listen to the Holy Spirit to spot gaps and help us to connect the dots. Our parish has two certified spiritual directors who see male and female directees ranging in age from 30-80+. Anytime is the right time to seek spiritual direction. As we get closer to this charity golf event on June 15 we are hoping for more parishioners to be sponsors/donors. We currently provide financial tuition assistance to 34 children that would be unable to attend St. John's School (Hot Springs) without our help. With the substantial cost increases in tournament expenses, we truly need more sponsor/donor help. We are asking the all parishioners prayerfully consider donating knowing that you will be helping children that would not normally have the opportunity to receive such a high quality Catholic education. For information on sponsorship levels please contact Scott Krantz at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. or 512 626-7711.
What an honor to carry the wine, hosts, and offerings at Mass for consecration. Gift Bearers actively participate in the celebration of the Mass by presenting the gifts of Bread and Wine at the Offertory. No special skill or permanent ministerial duty required. It enables us to appreciate how God invites man to participate in bringing to fulfilment his handiwork. Sign up in the white binder in the Narthex to be a part of this beautiful and significant part of Mass.
