Before and after we enter into the "Three Days" known as the Triduum, we invite you to gather to share in two meals on Holy Thursday and Good Friday and a welcome reception following the Easter Vigil liturgy. The Holy Thursday meal (at 5:00 pm) will be prepared by Chef Johnna and served by volunteers from our Sacred Heart Men's Club (thanks guys!) and will consist of salad, herb baked chicken with Dijon cream sauce, wild rice pilaf, grilled corn on the cob and a roll. Dessert will also be provided. Donations of at least $10 per person are encouraged and will help pay for a portion of this delicious meal. Sign up in the Narthex or call the church office to reserve by Monday, March 25.

The Good Friday meal will be a simple meatless soup and crackers or bread after the 12:00 pm Stations of the Cross in the Lower Hall with donations accepted. Sign up in the Narthex or by phone with the deadline also Monday, March 25.

Finally, there will be a welcome reception for our newly baptized and/or Confirmed (Kyle Carter and Cindy Norlin) after the Easter Vigil in the Lower Hall with cake , punch and coffee served. No sign ups necessary for this gathering.
Pope Francis has asked our parish to support Christians in the Holy Land. Through the Good Friday Collection, you join with Catholics around the world to stand in solidarity with the Church in the Holy Land. When you contribute to the Pontifical Good Friday Collection, you become an instrument of peace in a troubled land. Christians, along with the clergy and religious who serve in the Holy Land deeply appreciate your financial help. Like Simon of Cyrene, you can help carry the cross under very difficult circumstances in the Holy Land.
Please plan to participate in the Novena at home or at church beginning Good Friday at 3:00 pm and concluding the second Sunday of Easter (April 7). The intention for each day and chaplet will be prayed after each daily Mass and before the Masses on Divine Mercy weekend. There will be a Holy Hour here at Sacred Heart Sunday, April 7 at 3:00 pm.
The Knights of Columbus are pleased to announce our One Church Dinner on April 4. The beneficiary this year is Blessed Stanley Rother Mission in Decatur. This is the first church in the world named for the first US born priest and martyr to be beatified. The church is in need of MANY costly repairs (which total more than $100K). Special guests for the evening are Bishop Taylor and Fr. Samy, the church's Pastor.

Please pray for the Blessed Stanley Rother parish and consider donating generously at the dinner. Enjoy a traditional spaghetti dinner prepared by Tom Donnelly with Fr. Bill's ice cream for dessert in the Lower Hall. Social time begins at 4:30 pm. Tickets are $15. Call the Knight's ticket line 501 404-5195 for instructions on purchasing. Remaining tickets will be sold at Masses March 23/24 & 31 for those that would rather select seats (no computer required). If unable to attend but wish to support, mail checks made out to Knights of Columbus to Mark Leslie, 13 Access Circle, HSV 71909
Dear Stamp Savers of Sacred Heart of Jesus, Thank You! Your in-kind donation of canceled US and foreign stamps, which benefits our Ministry with the Poor, has been received. There are several offerings on Formed that will help you prepare for this week's Holy Week. "The Spirituality of Lent" a discussion by Dr. Tim Gray reminds you, for instance, why this season features purple and why the practices of Penance, now and previously, are especially important this week. Hopefully, you will be reenergized for the coming week's activities as he goes on the discuss how we can prepare ourselves during Lent for the celebration of Easter. Now is the perfect time to go to www.FORMED.org and register for your free parish subscription..
The annual collection to support the education and formation of our diocesan priests will take place at Holy Thursday Mass. If you are unable to come specifically to the Mass, please donate your financial gift in the collection basket anytime over the next few weeks. You may also mail it directly to the church.
Our Sociable Six will return for the months of April, May and June 2024. Three couples will be grouped to-gether and then arrange among themselves to share a simple brunch, lunch or dinner at alternate homes each month. Participants will enjoy getting to know their fellow parishioners in an informal setting. It is a great way for newcomers to get acquainted with members of our parish family. To sign up call Nancy or Howard Emery 815 861-0820 or email This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.. Please provide your name, address, phone number and email address. Final sign up for this session is March 27. You will receive a letter/email with the three couples in your group the first week of April.
Arrangements are in the process of being made for a CPR class. Please Call or text Mary Ann Dale at 240 298-1218 if you would like to participate. Class date and time TBA.
Return you rice bowls with the money you have collected during Lent and place them in the "big" rice bowl in the Narthex, preferably on Holy Thursday, before Mass or anytime during the first two weeks of the Easter season. Catholic Relief Services and diocesan Catholic Charities are the beneficiaries both of whom help the poor.
We will be praying the Stations of the Cross communally on Good Friday at 12:00 pm. Various Stations of the Cross booklets will be in the Narthex for individual use throughout the day and into the evening.
The annual LOSH Guild 2 Palm Sunday bake sale will take place after all Masses this weekend. Come and enjoy all the goodies while supporting local charities.
- Besides participating in the Triduum both in church and at home, we will be offering gatherings to share food, and in the case of Holy Thursday (before the liturgy) and the Easter Vigil (after the liturgy) some fellowship with one another.

- Be ready next weekend to sign up for the Parish Meal on Holy Thursday (at 5:00 pm) in the Lower Hall. Chef Johnna will be preparing and the Men's Club members will be serving a delicious chicken entrée with sides to go with it and Fr. Bill's homemade ice cream.

-On Good Friday all are invited to share a meatless soup and video after the noon Stations of the Cross and before the main liturgy at 3:00 pm. After the Easter vigil we invite every-one to a cake and punch (or coffee) celebration in the Lower Hall to welcome our newly baptized and confirmed (Kyle Carter and Cynthia Norlin)!
