All Souls Day - Sacred Heart Cemetery Blessing of the Deceased
After 9:00 AM Mass on All Soul's Day, November 2, 2013 , Fr. Bill and a large group of parishioners processed out to the Sacred Heart Cemetery for a ceremony to Bless the souls of those interred in the Columbariums in the Cemetery.  A number of the parishioners attending had loved ones inurned in the Columbariums and seemed very moved by the prayers for their deceased spouses, children and friends.

The Cemetery was approved for construction and completed in 2007 and was dedicated by the pastor at that time, Msgr. Bernard Malone.  The Cemetery consists of a memorial garden and three columbarium, with room for four additional columbarium, as needed.  There is no plan for a mausoleum or in-ground burial for the Cemetery.

If you are not familiar with the term columbarium, it is a structure for the inurnment of cremated remains of the deceased.  Our three columbarium are located in the Memorial Garden and each contains eighty niches that are capable of containing one or two urns of cremated remains.

The Catholic Church has issued guidelines for cremation and inurnment of cremated remains.  Click here for the Diocese of Little Rock Cremation Guidelines.

The inurnment of cremated remains in the Sacred Heart Cemetery is limited to Sacred Heart Church members and their immediate families.  Click here for the guidelines for the inurnment of cremated remains in the Sacred Heart Cemetery.

If you are interested in discussing the purchase of a niche for your family, please contact Deacon Larry Lipsmeyer at 501-922-3283 or Gary Wolfer at 501-204-1192 or print and fill out the Request For Information Form and send it to the Church office.

The Cemetery is administered by a committee headed by the pastor and a board appointed by the pastor.  The funds generated from the sale of the niches are kept separate from other Church funds and are used to maintain the Memorial Garden and columbarium in perpetuity.  Click here for additional information regarding the Sacred Heart of Jesus Cemetery.
